About the event
In shamanic ancestral work, the land is a living member of the family, the lineage and the relationship. It holds memory, consciousness and agency. The land carries the imprint of the people who lived there- their lives, their ways of speaking, offering, harvesting, celebrating, losing, staying and leaving. Engaging with the land as a member of the lineage means treating it with the same respect you would give to an elder- not because it’s sacred in a general sense, but because it has history with your people. That history may be full, ruptured, interrupted or forgotten, but it is still present.
When displacement has occurred, through colonization, war, famine or other forces, the shamanic perspective says that the connection has not ended. It was just interrupted, layered with pain or silence, but it is still very much there, alive.
